admin
Optical illusions are cool. I remember way back in the day, when those "3D-Images" became popular. The kind that look like a random paint splatter, or some simple background design. But if you stare at it long enough, you can see a 3D object pop out. There are all kinds of optical illusions. There was one recently that made the rounds on social media. I had to read the "spoiler" to find out what it was. At first glance, it looked like a side view of a regular brick wall. The bricks were various shades of faded red. The cement was crumbling. Didn't look like anything was "hidden." But smack dab in the middle was a huge cigar. And once you saw it, you could not UNSEE it. That's what makes it so cool. Before I read the spoiler, ALL I could see were the bricks. But after I read the spoiler, no matter how much I tried I COULD NOT see those same bricks again. Most people think, or rather assume, that "optical illusions" are the ONLY kind of illusions. But there are other kinds. If you listen to static long enough, you might start to hear voices. Which is pretty freaky if you're all alone and you've got one of those "ghost TV's" that keeps turning itself on! But there are much more powerful "auditory illusions." The kind you can create with words. Since most of us speak unconsciously, we don't even consider this idea. But when you take a little bit of effort to choose your words, and the content they describe, it can have a PROFOUND effect on your listeners. You can hide deeper meanings within simple stories. Just like those 3D images hidden in the noise. And people will listen to you just like they stare at those objects. They'll listen intently, wondering what's hidden inside. And like the cigar picture, your stories will be told and retold. Giving you extreme flexibility. What messages will you hide within your language?
