  5. https://loopvids.s3.amazonaws.com/Sept30Post.mp4 The other day I went to buy some horseradish. I looked at the ingredients, and plenty different kinds of horseradish had corn of some kind. Corn starch, high fructose corn syrup, and other types of corn. Why is there so much corn in our food? The answer is pretty simple. And, believe it or not, it goes all the way back to the Great Depression. The one that happened nearly a hundred years ago. Why in the heck do events from a hundred years ago make it likely to find corn based ingredients in horseradish? Well, imagine you were a farmer, way back in the day. And you borrowed a bunch of money to keep your farm going. So long as you could sell your stuff, you could pay back your loan. But then the depression hit. And prices DROPPED very quickly. So quickly, that even if farmers sold ALL their stuff, they STILL wouldn't make enough to pay their loans. So like plenty of people walked away from their houses during the last financial crisis, plenty of farmers were bailing on their farms. Just packing everything up and leaving. The super genius government came up with a super genius plan. To make a law saying prices couldn't go below a certain amount. Unfortunately, (or fortunately) government goofs don't have magic wands. They can make laws, but they also have to ENFORCE them. Just like posting a speed limit won't do squat unless there's a cop hiding behind a sign somewhere. How do these super genius government goofs keep prices from going too low? They BUY IT if it goes below a certain price. To get the price back up. One of the most messed up laws of economics is called the "law of unintended consequences." This is when government geniuses come up with an idea. But then something happens that they DIDN'T expect. And that unexpected thing almost always makes things WORSE. Once the super genius government told everybody they would buy CORN if it went below a certain price, so the poor farmers wouldn't go out of business, EVERYBODY started growing corn. If you grew corn, after all, you would get a GUARANTEED price. So here we are, nearly a hundred years later, and the CORN industry is HUGE. They use corn to make ethanol. They use corn to feed animals. All the sugar in our food comes from CORN. If they could build houses out of corn, they would. The entire country has been CORN HOLED. What does this have to do with anything? The laws of economics and human nature are EVERYWHERE. If you don't understand them, you'll feel like your living in random bizarre clown show land. But if you DO understand them, EVERYTHING will make sense. And you can HACK your way into anything you want. Love, money and everything in between. Learn How: http://mindpersuasion.com/seven-rules/
  6. https://loopvids.s3.amazonaws.com/July23Post.mp4 One of the biggest problems of modern society our attention span. Some studies put our attention span the same as a goldfish. Not sure how accurate that is, but there is a LOT of data suggestion we are getting dumber, lazier and far less capable. For example, if you look at the grade level of presidential state of the union speeches since WWII (75 years ago), they have been slowly getting worse and worse. In the 50s a typical presidential speech was at the twelfth grade level. Today it's much lower. And it's been STEADILY declining. Another thing that has been getting worse and worse is our ability to DELAY gratification. This makes total sense. Imagine living a 100 years ago. No TV, very scarce radio. Everything you COULD know about world had to be READ and understood. Naturally, people back then were MUCH more informed. Today, if something is more than a couple hundred words, our eyes glaze over and our minds start to drift. This is both terrible and fantastic, depending who you are. If you are somebody who can't focus for very long, then it sucks. But if you CAN still think relatively strongly and have a decent level of intelligence, this gives you a HUGE advantage. Because despite how seemingly lazy and stupid most of us have become, deep down inside we are the SAME humans we've been for thousands of years. Before they invented the printing press, people had to REMEMBER a ton of stuff. The only people nowadays who even come close to utilizing their total brain power are career stage actors. People who have memorized DOZENS or even HUNDREDS of plays. The guys who have to get up in front of tons of people and REMEMBER a short story worth of words. Not just the basic idea, but the EXACT words in the EXACT order. And not the stuff that's on TV. Well written stuff. Like Shakespeare. Even better, they've got to say them CONGRUENTLY. This means they've got to remember them intellectually and emotionally. Ancient storytellers did the same thing. Viking storytellers were capable of telling ancient Norse sagas, some that went on for HOURS. All from memory. This is the POTENTIAL of the human mind. A potential that most people would be TERRIFIED to even think about. Even if you only scrape the surface of what's possible, you can be a shining star surrounded by dullards DESPERATE for somebody to tell them what to do. Desperate for somebody to capture and lead their attentions, imaginations, and emotions. Learn How: http://mindpersuasion.com/instinct-persuasion/
  7. Evolutionary biologists tell us there are four kinds of trade programmed into our brain. 1) We exchange two things now. 2) We give (or get) something from somebody, and they owe us (or we owe them). 3) We give a tribal leader his due. 4) And we share equally among family members. Even lower animals can keep track of who owes what to whom. They've done all kinds of studies, and they find this behavior, of keeping tabs of each others debt, in primates, pigs and bats. So the idea of debt is build deeply into our DNA. So is the idea of taxes. The idea that we give the boss what the boss asks, in exchange for the leadership the boss provides, is instinctive. And the idea of collecting taxes shows up in every large society that has ever existed on Earth. And when you have more or less the SAME societal structures popping up in Mesopotamia in 2000 BC and then later in Meso-America in 500 AD, it's something that comes from inside our brains. The idea of money also comes from inside our brains. It doesn't need to be taught, or invented. Every time you get a group of people together, they come with a kind of money. Money represents a kind of meta-level idea of owing something to somebody. It's a kind of debt that can be transferred. Somebody gives you something, and you can either owe them, or give them an accepted form of money. So long as everybody accepts this form of currency, it works very much like potential energy. Farmers can use to pay their workers. The workers can use it to buy bread. All require energy. All can be traded for "money-energy." Ever since humans invented this money energy, the stuff people invented exploded. Once upon a time there was only people and the stuff that grew naturally. Once they figured out how to DELIBERATELY grow enough stuff to feed a lot more people, that's when money popped up. And once this happened, a new thought popped into everybody's head. What thought is this? "If I can figure out how to make something that EVERYBODY wants, I can get a LOT of money. If I can get a LOT of money, I never have to work again!" This same thought has driven every society to keep inventing more and more stuff. This is the SAME thought that will drive YOU to create a huge empire of wealth, if you allow it.
