https://loopvids.s3.amazonaws.com/Oct31Post.mp4 The story of rubber is pretty interesting. Vulcanize rubber was invented twice, at least. Not really invented, but discovered. Vulcanized, or hardened rubber is useful. The sticky sappy stuff that comes out of trees, not so much. It was first discovered by the Aztecs. They described it as the semen from a flower mixed with the blood of a tree. Or something like that. But then when their civilization collapsed, so did the secrets or rubber. If you've seen the movie "The Lost City of Z," it's got a pretty interesting premise. A bunch of British guys had an "idea" that deep in the Amazon jungle was a huge ancient city. Nobody believed them. They went looking, and found a lot of ancient ruins. But here's the kind of cool part. The Natives that were living in the jungle at the time, had NO idea who build those ancient ruins. Same people, but a few hundred years after the collapse. This is what happens when a large and complex civilization loses most of it's population. The population in any large civilization, no matter how complex, can be seen as a "collective memory." So long as somebody writes down all that information, it CAN be preserved. But this is rarely the case. So once the population dies down, and without a lot of written records, and not a lot of literacy in the subsequent people, the mysteries and scientific breakthroughs of any previous "hive mind" are lost. Until somebody "re-discovers" the same thing. Which is exactly what Charles Goodyear did. The tire empire guy built his entire fortune by accident. To his credit, he'd been TRYING to figure out how to vulcanize rubber for a long time. But the as the legend goes, one day he got frustrated, and angrily threw something. Something accidentally mixed with something else and BOOM. Vulcanized rubber. Kind of like a lucky, peanut butter in my chocolate, accident. This is one of the meanings of the famous saying: Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. This is often misunderstood. That one day, you're sitting there staring off into space, and you "get" a genius idea. Only after that genius idea comes do you get to work. But the reality is much different. The reality is that 1% inspiration comes WITHIN a ton of perspiration. When your "go to" background thinking is: "How can I do X better?" Most people have a much different background thinking pattern. More like: "I'm bored. Somebody entertain me." The space in which genius shows up MUST be curiosity. Curiosity about you can MAKE something or DO something or EXPRESS something better than before. Better than everybody else. Curiosity combined with continuous trial and experimentation. In the lab, in your mind, in conversations. This is where genius lives. Get Started: https://mindpersuasion.com/creativity-accelerator/

https://loopvids.s3.amazonaws.com/Sept23Post.mp4 Bees and humans are a lot alike. From a basic structural, get some food level. Bees go out looking for food. They all go off in a different direction. They come back and report their findings. How they do this is pretty cool. They do a little figure 8 dance. The size of the 8 is based on the amount of food they found. The angle is based on the direction and the distance. So they all come back, take turns dancing, and all follow the guy with the biggest figure 8. Humans are the same. But with ONE very critical difference. We come back, from the hunt, and we DESCRIBE what happened. We have memories of what happened. We describe those memories with words. And those words create similar memories in others. We can transmit memories from our brains into other brains. So all it takes is ONE GUY to accidentally figure how to do something better, and that new skill is now implanted into EVERYBODY'S brain. Each person can then go out, and using that memory as a guide, try and reproduce what the previous guy did. Without needing to have seen him. This is, essentially, the one trait that made us the apex predators of Earth. All the other stuff we do wouldn't matter nearly as much. Opposable thumbs, use of tools, even our ability to live in plenty of environments due to the sexual division of labor. None of that would have mattered if we were stuck in the "learn only by watching" model that all other animals have. This is, metaphorically, a collective memory. A "hive mind." So long as a tribe of people can replicate themselves, this "collective memory" can store thousands of years of information. Then once they invented writing, this made it much, much more powerful. Greek guys come up with philosophy, mathematics, geometry, and so long as they wrote it down, this knowledge could be passed on. This what led to the enlightenment, and the scientific revolution. Both the discovery of these ancient Greek ideas, AND the printing press. This meant the "hive mind" went form a small tribe of primitive humans to the ENTIRE PLANET. From an anthropology standpoint, this is pretty amazing. That these weird monkey-people could not only evolve self awareness, but could create this MASSIVE hive mind collection of data. That KEEPS getting bigger. From a personal standpoint, this CAN make a huge difference. We come into this world with an infinite learning capacity. We have the SAME BRAINS we had thousands of years ago. These SAME BRAINS will be learning things IN a thousand years that we can't even imagine today. But what about YOUR brain? Will you be content, like most people, to use it passively? To let video games, social media and other people's ideas do your thinking for you? Or will you take advantage of your GENIUS brain, and build it up so strongly you can do things you never thought possible? Learn More: https://mindpersuasion.com/mental-strength/

The hive mind can be incredibly intelligent. For example, the space shuttle blew up in the eighties shortly after launch. Live on TV. Even worse, there was a school teacher on board. The cause was one of three major components. Each component was made by separate private companies that had been hired by NASA. We’ll call those three components X, Y and Z. Immediately after the explosion, each of the stocks absolutely TANKED on the stock market. The three companies that made X, Y and Z. Interestingly, two of them had come back before the end of trading. One never recovered. It took NASA six months of intense testing to find the component that failed and caused the explosion. It was the SAME ONE that never recovered on the stock market. The smartest minds a NASA took six months to figure it out. The HIVE MIND had it figured out in less than a day. How, exactly? Nobody’s really sure. Maybe it’s some kind of “collective consciousness” that is WAY smarter than any individual. It’s kind of the same thing that Adam Smith referred to as the “Invisible Hand,” with respect to market prices. Based ONLY on market prices, the market “knows” what’s in demand, what’s scarce, and what’s not. There are plenty of examples of the hive mind outsmarting any individual. Sometimes it’s pretty simple. Like in contests where people guess the number of jelly beans in a jar. The AVERAGE (which sort of represents the hive mind) is always within one, or sometimes less, jelly beans. The closest INDIVIDUAL is usually off by ten or twenty jelly beans. In these contests, the hive mind (average) ALWAYS beats the smartest human. Humans have been social animals for millions of years. Since BEFORE we were humans. And since we only invented spoken language 100,000 years ago or so, there is TONS of information flying around that is out of our conscious awareness. Things like jelly bean contests and space shuttle explosions, where there is a SINGLE and CLEAR goal, the hive mind will always win, hands down. But this requires that EACH individual in the hive mind be operating SEPARATELY. Like stock market traders and jelly bean guessers. But sometimes there is a group of people are there ARE no clear goals. Everybody is kind of hanging out, with their own ideas. When there is no clear goal, the hive mind will CRAVE somebody to tell them what to do. In an experiment, they stick ten people in a room. They ALWAYS choose one leader. How can you BE that leader? The short answer is to have the strongest frame. Create non-verbal (subconscious) communication that is clear, congruent, strong and desirable. With a strong frame like this, you don’t NEED words.
